At twenty weeks in utero Gabrielle  was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). She was born at Boston Children’s Hospital on July 31, 2009. Gabrielle had her first open heart surgery at four days old. She has had five open heart surgeries since that time.  Secondary to her heart condition Gabrielle has pulmonary vein stenosis. Her left pulmonary veins are completely occluded and her right pulmonary veins have mild stenosis that has been able to be contained and treated. The pulmonary vein stenosis has complicated Gabrielle’s heart condition and she is currently not a candidate for the Glenn, the Fontan or, a heart lung transplant.

Gabrielle is the most amazing little girl and continues to teach us about life, love, happiness, tenacity and courage. Gabrielle is currently in ballet and tap class.  She loves singing and dancing, playing outside, reading, spending time with her brother, Yo Gabba Gabba, Elmo and Fresh Beat band. Her smile is contagious and everywhere she goes people fall in love with her. She surprises and amazes all her doctors and surgeons and we know she will continue to do so. We love our Warrior Princess and she makes her mommy and daddy so proud.
